Electronic Expansion Valve (EXV)

The electronic expansion valve, unique to Carrier trailer units, is designed to make sure that the entire evaporator is always being fully utilized. By allowing more exact control of refrigerant superheat than mechanical valves, it ensures that the refrigeration system delivers both maximum capacity, as well as maximum efficiency.

In comparison to a mechanical valve that is only fully optimized at a single condition, the electronic expansion valve also provides maximum reliability by protecting the compressor from liquid refrigerant at all operating conditions.
